Surgeries
Our veterinarians perform a wide variety of procedures. If surgery is recommended, we will discuss with you the details of the plan. Pain management is an important component of the treatment plan, and our doctors will ensure that your pet is kept comfortable and safe.
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is recommended for all patients, prior to surgery. This is done to ensure that the animal’s liver and kidneys can handle the surgery. It also gives our doctors a baseline value which is helpful if your pet becomes ill in the future. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is a requirement for all patients over 7 years of age. Even animals that appear healthy can have serious health issues that are only detected by bloodwork.
Some of the common surgeries that are frequently performed at HAC include:
• Spay/Neuter
• Laceration repair
• General abdominal surgery
• Mass/Growth removal
• Bladder stone removal
• Declawing (Laser only)
Laser surgery is an option that is offered and highly recommended because of the many benefits over the scalpel. These benefits include decreased risk of infection, decreased bleeding during surgery, decreased pain, and a reduction in swelling.
A veterinary technician will assist the doctor during surgery and continue to care for and monitor your pet after surgery.
